Millagram: singer, songwriter, producer

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Millagram is cut from Gospel Folk fabric and embroidered with Jazz. Her music, a calmative reflective of her era, is Electronic Soul and Dance rhythms with thoughtful lyrics. After a decade of residence in Montreal city, Millagram returns to her roots with her next collection of songs, written in her last year in urban lockdown to be released from her hometown of New Glasgow. Building on her last release of Canadian Pop (MINIMUM 2020), Millagram continues her exploration in Electronic Music orchestration bringing more enlightening experiments you way.

With music as the melody of her upbringing in rural Nova Scotia, Millagram, née Mary-Grace Koile, began performing in church as a child and has been spending significant time on stages ever since. Releasing her first solo album of original music at nineteen, she has gone on to participate in countless other projects while continuing to develop, compose and produce her own tracks. A lyricist by birthright, her songs are both deeply personal and poetic.

A 2016 release (her debut EP as Millagram, “Creative Destruction” with Toronto-producer No-Fauxs) enjoyed great reviews from the local Montreal scene with performances at places like Casa Del Popolo and radio interviews at CKUT. From intimate gatherings to big crowds, her energy and passion for music-making shines through and resonates soul deep. She is influenced by many Jazz vocal greats like Ella, Amy and Eva, but her originality takes precedence as she creates an auditory landscape for her listeners, taking them from deep grooves to balladic vistas, mixing an organic live instrument sound with tight vocals and electronic accents.

Her latest release "Minimum" in 2020 was co-produced by herself and Montreal Producer/Songwriter Paul Cargnello in their neighbourhood of NDG. The album boosts radio-ready production with influences of Pop, Jazz, Folk and Dance.

Her next release TBD in 2021 will be released in her hometown New Glasgow and will be completely self-produced as she highlights her composition and production skills she has gathered through her own studies and from her undergrad studies at the Concordia Music Program.
